Pioneer to Increase Overseas Sales of Car Navigation Systems
March 03, 2006
The Nihon Keizai Shimbun recently reported that Pioneer is planning to increase overseas sales of its car navigation systems to 130,000 units in the fiscal year 2005, which runs through March 2006. The company has set a target of pushing this number by 30% in fiscal 2006, hoping to reach about 170,000 units.

On February 24 Asia Express had reported on the company's entry into the Chinese market, and in the recent article by the Japanese newspaper it is revealed that the United States and Europe will also be featured prominently in the company's plans. In the United States it will launch a car navigation system with a built-in hard disk drive to accommodate demand for more data, and an initial price of US$2,000 has been set for this offering. In Europe Pioneer will increase the number of languages used for its voice-guidance system to ten from the current number of eight. It also plans to introduce its system with the built-in hard disk drive in Europe by April of this year.
